OPEN RECORDS SUMMARY :

Savannah McCreary was a 29-year-old passenger in a Jeep Cherokee that was speeding on the I-55 when at Manley Quarry Road, it veered out of its lane, hit a rock outcropping at 87 mph, ejected both occupants and overturned. Savannah McCreary was killed. Her husband, Officer Colby Tyler McCreary of the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office had been driving under the influence with a BAC of 0.17 when he caused the single-vehicle crash that killed his wife. He was injured, recovered, and while Deputy McCreary was initially charged with manslaughter but most likely due to his privilege as law enforcement officer, the felony charges were dropped and he agreed to a plea agreement coming on February 28, 2024 on a single count of driving while intoxicated, a class B misdemeanor. The maximum penalty for a first-time DWI in Missouri includes a temporary suspension of driving privileges, a potential fine and up to six months in jail.

The manslaughter charges are dropped and Officer McCreary is still fully certified and free to return to work in law enforcement.
