K9 officer Michael Moran traffic-stopped a vehicle in Cortez. It is currently unknown what transpired but a shootout between Officer Moran and Jason Campbell and Officer Moran was shot and injured, later died in the hospital. Police chased Campbell and found him on Highway 160-491. They shot and killed him.
