OPEN RECORDS SUMMARY :
Chipley PD Chief Thompson said they got calls of a man behaving erratically at an intersection near the Chipley Walmart and was allegedly threatening vehicles including a school bus. Police got to the area and found Pearce harassing customers in the parking lot. Officers apparently attempted to tackle him and a fight broke out during which Pearce reportedly took one of the officers’ taser. Police shot and killed him. Pearce is believed to have been unarmed. Chief Thompson did not confirm how many shots were fired or how many officers shot Pearce.No officers were charged.
