An unhoused Latina believed to be in her 40s “stepped off the curb and was struck by the patrol car” 11500 block of the Southwest Freeway access road near Wilcrest Drive. The Houston PD officer driving the vehicle was traveling to assist with a case and had not activated his emergency lights or sirens, as required. This was the third pedestrian fatality from police vehicles in 30 days in Harris County. No officers were charged.
