OPEN RECORDS SUMMARY :
After 4 a.m. on Monday, the Coweta County Sheriff’s Office initiated a high-speed chase on West Highway 16 where Jackie L.Haynes was reportedly speeding on the wrong side of the road.
Police used a PIT maneuver, tried to take Haynes into custody and officers used a taser on him, shot a pepper ball gun into the SUV, causing him to try to drive away. A deputy then shot into the SUV, hitting Haynes multiple times. He died from his injuries. He is believed to have been unarmed.No officers were charged.
