On 01/05/2023, Chatham County deputies saw a “suspicious car” and felt people inside may be using drugs. Deputies escalated a high-speed chase and the fleeing driver lost control in the 6000 block of Bonlee Bennett Road and smashed into a telephone pole in the front yard of a home. Amber French was killed. Police were not charged.
