Thibodaux PD escalated a car chase to 115 mph in Assumption Parish about 10:40 p.m. Tuesday after a deputy saw Johnson driving more than 70 mph on two-lane La. 308 with headlights off, per police.
Calvin Tromell Johnson wasbeing chased by policeat high speeds for a broken headlight. He got out and jumped into Bayou Lafourche, appeared to be "having difficulty staying above water," police said.It is not known with what delay police allegedly went in the water after him but his body wasn't found until about 2 a.m., more than 3 hours later. Wednesday by Thibodaux police officers. No officers were charged.
