On Monday, May 8, 2023, at around 3:30 pm, on Bear Valley Road near Navajo Road, eyewitnesses reported a bloody adult male with a knife in the roadway. An eyewitness later said that the man had a gun at the apartment complex and there had been a shootout in which several bullets hit a nearby home. Police shot and killed the man. No more details were disclosed by Apple Valley PD. He was not publicly identified. No officers were identified or charged.
