Lisa Edwards was arrested on February 5, 2023 at Fort Sanders Regional Medical Center after Knoxville PD and Tennessee DPS tackled her for refusing to leave the hospital. She had insisted that she was very ill and needed care. The hospital forced her to leave via police. She was placed into the back of the cruiser by officers Brandon Wardlaw, Adam Barnett, Timothy Distasio and Transportation officer Danny Dugan and was found unresponsive and died after the hospital’s refusal to help and the forcible removal by police.The District Attorney’s Office cleared all officers.
