LAPD chased after a young man they felt was stealing catalytic converters and escalated a chase at high speed, then “called off the chase” as a crash was imminent. The car crashed into the Balderas family, killing Michaela Balderas, her husband Flavio Balderas and James Griffin whom police had been chasing.
