fire was reported at a storage trailer on a lot at Indio and Canterbury in Yucca Valley. Deputies responded to a fire at a storage trailer on a lot at Indio and Canterbury in Yucca Valley. They tried to contact Guzman, believed to have set the fire, but he drove away in a truck according to police.Deputies from San Bernardino and Riverside Counties chased him through Yucca Valley and Morongo Valley and ultimately onto Interstate 10.Garza tried to drive off the freeway and his vehicle became disabled at the Whitewater cutoff. He was stopped, then shot and killedby San Bernardino deputies in an open field on the south shoulder of the Whitewater cut-off.
