A 911 caller reported seeing a friend’s pickup that had been stolen several days prior.The caller followed the stolen pickup and provided updated location information to Linn County deputies who located the truck in Tangent, as it drove into a grass field. The pickup crashed into an embankment against a tree near the Calapooia River.The driver, Elijah Lyle Robb, 43, fled on foot towards the river. He jumped in the river and attempted to swim across the strong current, was then witnessed swimming back to the bank, where he became hidden in thick brush hanging over the water." He drowned.
