Frederick PD arrived to arrest Joseph Sherill on a probation violation. Officers Robert Hess and Fahad Mirza barged into the residence and shot and killed him, alleging that he had had a knife. BWC images show him cowering defensively in a closet. It is not clear why officers shot him.
