On January 26, 2024, Kingman Police attempted to pull over a vehicle that did not stop, prompting a police chase. The chase ended when the fleeing vehicle collided with the car driven by Sarah Bingham, a 21-year-old delivery driver, killing her. The individual in the pursued vehicle, 44-year-old Juan Javier Ortiz, had earlier attempted to evade law enforcement during a confrontation with the Arizona Department of Public Safety (DPS). He was charged with multiple felony offenses, including first-degree murder. Despite a trooper-involved shooting, Ortiz managed to escape until the crash that led to Bingham's death. No officers were injured in the incident
