OPEN RECORDS SUMMARY :
Police allege that they spotted Matthew Mattingly and happened to know that he had an open warrant. They tried to traffic-stop him but he fled. Police escalated a chase, placed spike strips, whereupon he crashed and according to police pointed a weapon at them which they gave as reason for shooting and killing him. Officers Bryan Sprankle, Richard Pollitt, Gregory Russell, Matthew Boyd, Marcus Green and Patrick Edmonds fired at him, Police allege he had a “realistic gun” which may have been a replica. He was unarmed.
