OPEN RECORDS SUMMARY :

On January 22, 2024, at approximately 2:39 a.m., a state trooper observed a Kia Soul traveling northbound on Interstate 95 at a speed of 104 miles per hour. The trooper attempted to catch up to the vehicle but did not initiate a traffic stop or pursuit, as the car was no longer in sight. The driver, identified as 17-year-old Alan Lee Lockamy of Archer Lodge, attempted to exit at Brogden Road (Exit 93) but lost control. The vehicle veered off the roadway and collided with several trees. The front-seat passenger, 17-year-old Freddy Seras of Clayton, was trapped in the vehicle along with the driver. The back-seat passengers, 16-year-old Semaj Lejai Williams and 17-year-old Christopher Wayne Jackson Jr., both of Smithfield, were ejected from the vehicle. All four occupants were pronounced dead at the scene. The North Carolina State Highway Patrol is conducting an investigation into the incident.
