OPEN RECORDS SUMMARY :

On January 6, 2024, Michigan State Police troopers escalated a high-speed pursuit after identifying a stolen 2006 Ford Super Duty pickup truck at a gas station on Eight Mile Road. As troopers approached, the driver reversed the vehicle, nearly striking their patrol car, before fleeing the area.

Police continued the chase onto the Lodge Freeway, where the fleeing vehicle turned off its headlights and drove southbound in the northbound lanes. Near Civic Center Drive, the vehicle collided head-on with a GMC Terrain. The occupants of the GMC Terrain, Jennifer Dormitorio Ambrosio, 43, and Ryan Ambrosio, 45, were both killed in the crash. The couple, residents of Farmington Hills, were returning home from a date night and leave behind six children, aged 2 to 9.

The driver of the stolen truck and a passenger were hospitalized with serious injuries. Michigan State Police are conducting an investigation into the pursuit and crash. Findings will be forwarded to the Oakland County Prosecutor's Office.
