OPEN RECORDS SUMMARY :

On May 16, 2024, at approximately 3:02 p.m., deputies from the Arapahoe County Sheriff’s Office responded to a report of Everett Duriel Shockley holding a female at gunpoint inside a residence at 4500 S. Himalaya Circle.

Upon arrival, deputies attempted to make contact with Shockley, but it was determined that he had locked himself and the female victim inside a bedroom. Deputies breached entry into the bedroom. Upon entry, they saw Shockley physically restraining the woman. Deputies shot and killed him. The female victim sustained severe facial injuries and was transported to a local hospital for medical treatment.

The Arapahoe County Sheriff's Office is handling the investigation. The officers involved were cleared following the investigation.
