SWAT teams and other law enforcement agencies were deployed to negotiate with the suspect, Todd Christopher Marchetti. Upon entering the residence, officers found the infant who had been shot multiple times. The child was airlifted to a hospital and later stabilized. Tragically, the father, who had initially held the child hostage, was found dead from what appeared to be a self-inflicted gunshot wound after the police made forced entry. A fire broke out at the scene during the standoff, which further delayed fire department response until it was safe to enter. The investigation is ongoing, and the police are working to determine the circumstances surrounding the fire.

Crookston PD were sent to a call about an apparently intoxicated and naked man in the street with a hatchet showing erratic behaviors just after midnight in Crookston. Officer Nick Fladland would go on and shoot and kill Christopher Junkin on July 9, 2024.

On July 9, 2024, the BCA confirmed that multiple bullet wounds had killed Junkin and simultaneously recommended not to charge officer Fladland for this killing. It was known at the time of this recommendation that he had already killed a second person days prior to being cleared. He had been cleared back to work at an unknown time before being cleared by BCA as he was back on duty on June 30, 2024 to kill Christopher Junkin.

On May 16, 2024, at approximately 12:39 a.m., Woodstock Police responded to a domestic incident in the 200 block of Douglas Street near Calhoun Street in Woodstock, Illinois. Upon arrival, officers learned that 25-year-old Fabian Velazquez had discharged a firearm inside the residence before fleeing the scene in a vehicle. Officers spotted Velazquez's vehicle and attempted a traffic stop, but he disregarded commands and accelerated southbound on Route 47 at a high rate of speed. Near the intersection of Route 47 and Route 176 in Lakewood, Velazquez lost control of his vehicle, which veered off the road, went airborne, and crashed onto Swanson Road. The vehicle rolled over during the crash. Velazquez was extricated from the vehicle and transported to Northwestern Hospital Huntley, where he died from his injuries. A gun matching the description of the one used in the initial incident was recovered at the crash scene. The McHenry County Major Investigations Assistance Team is investigating the incident.

On May 20, 2024, Baldwin County deputies responded to a false emergency call about an alleged emergency with a description of a vehicle to look for. The responding officer, Sgt. Reid White, was traveling on Kings Road when he spotted Louis Mazzola, 67, who was returning home from work. Sgt. White initiated a traffic stop, activating his lights and siren. Mazzola turned left onto Back in the Woods Way and White attempted to pass Mazzola’s vehicle on the left at high speed. White crashed into Mazzola’s vehicle, causing Mazzola to be ejected. Gravely injured, Mazzola later died from his injuries.

The incident was a result of the false 911 call and involved significant police activity by a number of participating officers, which escalated to the crash. White was placed on administrative leave while the Georgia State Patrol investigates the incident.

On 05/16/2024, Devin Montgomery shot and killed a man at North 35th Avenue and West Northern Avenue. Phoenix Police responded and pursued Montgomery, who fled the scene. The pursuit ended on West Cactus Road, where officers shot and killed Montgomery. The shooting followed the homicide and the police’s escalation to neutralize the threat.

On May 16, 2024, at approximately 3:02 p.m., deputies from the Arapahoe County Sheriff’s Office responded to a report of Everett Duriel Shockley holding a female at gunpoint inside a residence at 4500 S. Himalaya Circle.

Upon arrival, deputies attempted to make contact with Shockley, but it was determined that he had locked himself and the female victim inside a bedroom. Deputies breached entry into the bedroom. Upon entry, they saw Shockley physically restraining the woman. Deputies shot and killed him. The female victim sustained severe facial injuries and was transported to a local hospital for medical treatment.

The Arapahoe County Sheriff's Office is handling the investigation. The officers involved were cleared following the investigation.

Columbus PD were sent to a mental health crisis call where they found Rafel Warfield to be suicidal. Police got into a shootout with him and he was killed. Antrim did not stop, leading Deputy Strelecky to escalate the situation into a high-speed pursuit.

The chase extended approximately 20 miles into Delaware County, reaching speeds between 70 and 100 mph through Muncie's south side, downtown, and northwest side, before turning east on McGalliard Road. At the intersection of McGalliard Road and Tillotson Avenue, the pursuit continued through a red light, resulting in a significant collision with a white Jeep.
