On 02/27/2024 at approximately 12:30 p.m., Daytona Beach Police officers were conducting an operation targeting a man in connection with a reported motorcycle theft. Officers approached a pickup truck connected to the investigation near Seagrave Street and North Street. When officers attempted contact, the driver accelerated away, and police initiated a pursuit.
During the chase, which continued through city streets and into the 600 block of Madison Avenue, 59-year-old Gina Jennings was thrown from the moving pickup truck. She sustained critical injuries. Emergency responders transported her to a hospital, where she later died.
