OPEN RECORDS SUMMARY :
On 04/16/2024, Round Lake Park Police responded to a domestic disturbance involving a suicidal man at a residence on Brierhill Drive. Upon arrival, officers heard a single gunshot from inside the home. The Northern Illinois Police Alarm System Emergency Services Team (NIPAS EST) was deployed. SWAT secured the perimeter and employed standard protocols, including loudspeaker communication attempts and surveillance monitoring of the residence.

After several hours of failed communication attempts, SWAT officers entered the residence around 1:15 a.m. and found the man deceased from a self-inflicted gunshot wound. The standoff began at approximately 8:40 p.m., lasting about five hours.

SWAT officers were equipped with ballistic vests, helmets, gas masks, and military firearms. Surveillance equipment, including thermal imaging devices, was used to monitor movements inside the residence.
