OPEN RECORDS SUMMARY :
On April 9, 2024, at approximately 11:15 p.m., Mishawaka Police Department officers conducted a traffic stop near the intersection of Liberty Drive and West Marion Street in Mishawaka, Indiana. The vehicle stopped on railroad tracks, and a man and woman exited. Jeremy Knew, 43, then re-entered the vehicle and drove away.

Police escalated a pursuit that concluded in the Knollwood Subdivision, off Gumwood Road. Knew reportedly shot himself as he exited the vehicle. He was pronounced dead at the location.

The St. Joseph County Metro Homicide Unit is conducting an investigation into the incident.
