OPEN RECORDS SUMMARY :
A Fortuna man texted to a female that he had killed his son and the dog and sent her photos. The female contacted Fortuna PD. The woman called in a possible homicide at a residence in the 2300 block of Newburg Road. Officers evacuated residents and set up a perimeter, then heard the sound of what they believed to be a gunshot. The multi-agency Crisis Negotiation Team and Humboldt County SWAT Team responded with tactical command and eventually made entry into the residence where Wendell Bott IV was located deceased from apparent suicide under police duress. His son Wendell Bott V was found inside, also dead.
