OPEN RECORDS SUMMARY :
On February 10, 2024, at the intersection of Ina and Thornydale in Tucson, Marana Police Department officers conducted a traffic stop involving Tobin Joseph Pico. After officers initiated the stop, Pico allegedly fled on foot. During the pursuit, he was seen dropping and then retrieving a handgun in the road's median. Officers continued to pursue him, with helicopter support maintaining visual contact. As Pico approached a more populated area, officers deployed a sniper rifle to neutralize the threat. Pico was shot and died at the scene. The incident is being investigated by the multi-agency Police Regional Critical Incident Team (PRCIT)
