Cherryville PD responded to a call about a possibly unhoused and allegedly erratic man with a wrench who put down the wrench and picked up a pipe when police arrived. Police fought him during arrest, tased him multiple times and shot and killed him during the struggle. He was reportedly not armed aside from holding various objects.
