On February 2, 2024, at approximately 3 a.m., Florida Highway Patrol (FHP) Trooper Zachary Fink, 26, pursued a vehicle on Interstate 95 near Crosstown Parkway in Port St. Lucie, Florida. The driver was speeding and refused to stop. Trooper Fink attempted a U-turn to continue the pursuit and collided with an oncoming semi-truck driven by 55-year-old Arsenio Mas of Homestead, Florida. Both Trooper Fink and Mr. Mas died from their injuries. The Florida Highway Patrol is investigating the incident.
