On 02/01/2024, the Arroyo Grande Police Department responded to reports of gunshots at the senior center located at 241 N. Courtland Street in Arroyo Grande, California. Upon arrival, officers discovered the apartment manager deceased from gunshot wounds. Resident David Falcon, 66, was later found locked inside an apartment unit. Police deployed drones and established a standoff.

During the standoff, Falcon reportedly committed suicide. Reports indicate that the dispute stemmed from Falcon’s allegations that the apartment manager had unlawfully entered his apartment and physically harmed his cat, leading to extensive veterinary care. Falcon is alleged to have shot the manager following this confrontation.
