On 02/01/2024, the Arroyo Grande Police Department responded to reports of gunshots at the senior center located at 241 N. Courtland Street in Arroyo Grande, California. Upon arrival, officers discovered the apartment manager deceased from gunshot wounds. Resident David Falcon, 66, was later found locked inside an apartment unit. Police deployed drones and established a standoff.
During the standoff, Falcon reportedly committed suicide. Reports indicate that the dispute stemmed from Falcon’s allegations that the apartment manager had unlawfully entered his apartment and physically harmed his cat, leading to extensive veterinary care. Falcon is alleged to have shot the manager following this confrontation. Investigations into the circumstances surrounding the shooting and Falcon’s death are ongoing and are being conducted by the Arroyo Grande Police Department and independent oversight agencies.
