OPEN RECORDS SUMMARY :
Prince George deputies were sent to a possible burglary, found a man inside of a residence and shot and killed him. Melvin Jay had been in his own home when police invaded and killed him.
Police responded to a report about a possible "burglary in progress." Officer Braxton Shelton kicked in the door, stormed the private home of Mr. Jay with gun drawn, found Melvin Jay in his kitchen moving toward his kitchen sink when the officer screamed "show me your motherfucking hands!" and shot and killed him. Police won't comment but state that there was a gun in Melvin Jay's jacket pocket. The gun was not used and this seems an irrelevant defense because there was no burglary and no threat to police.
