Shortly before 5 p.m. on 06/22/2023, an off-duty New Jersey State Police officer in an unmarked vehicle began chasing an individual on a motorcycle in Springfield. Police escalated the chase to greater 100 miles per hour until the motorcyclist collided with a third-party vehicle near the intersection of Route 206 and Jacksonville-JobstownRoad. The unnamed 24-year-old male motorcyclist was killed as a result of the police chase crash.It is unknown whether the deceased motorcyclist knew the unmarked car was a police officer hunting them.
