Georgia State Patrol states that its trooperssaw a Chevrolet Silverado speeding west along I-20 at 90 mph,and troopers tried to pull over the pickup truck as it was exiting onto Flat Shoals Road along Custer Avenue. They started a pursuit and at the red light at the Moreland Avenue intersection, the driver being chased crashed into a gray SUV traveling north.The pickup truck caught fire and the driver had to be pulled out. He was unresponsive and was pronounced dead at the scene from his injuries. His name has not been released. No information has been located whether there were lights and sirens and what the speed of the chase had been. Police did not allege the fleeing driver to have been chased for anything other than possibly speeding. No officers were charged.
