Paxton PD and Ford County deputies were chasing a car southbound on Route 45 when the driver lost control near 1190 North Road. The car crossed the center line and hit a northbound SUV and a northbound pickup truck, then spun out and flipped several times before coming to a rest on the west side of the road. A fourth car received a flat tire after it drove over debris.
State Police said the driver being chased was 44-year-old Krista Woltz-Hernandez of Buckley who died at the scene. The driver of the SUV Woltz-Hernandez hit, 65-year-old Julie McGowan of Rantoul, also died at the scene. A man in a third car was hurt and taken to the hospital. It is unknown why police chased this driver.
