The New Jersey Attorney General's Office investigated a chase that stretched from Marlboro to Old Bridge on Nov. 9, 2022. One motorist died in a crash at the end of the chase. Police chased an allegedly stolen car until it crashed, resulted in the death of uninvolved driver Afturo Tlapa Luna.
A Marlboro police officer, identified Friday as Sgt. Greg Arrone, escalated a chase of the car that ended after the car hit several other vehicles on Route 9 south in Old Bridge in the area of Spring Valley Road shortly after 2 a.m.
The occupant of one of the cars, 33-year-old Freehold resident Arturo Tlapa-Luna, was killed in the crash. His wife, father and two daughters were also in the car and suffered severe injuries but survived.
