An ALPR license plate reader alerted police to a possible stolen car and they escalated a chase. The car fled and crashed. Lemont Lang, 29, was killed Wednesday afternoon when a car speeding away from police collided with two other vehicles in the city’s Wells-Goodfellow neighborhood.

A U.S. Customs and Border Patrol agent died Wednesday after an all-terrain vehicle accident while patrolling along the border in south Texas while tracking a group of people who had crossed the border illegally. Fellow agents found the man unresponsive, began life-saving efforts and called for an ambulance, the statement said. The agent died at a hospital.

A 13-year-old girl is dead after an early morning chase by Cordell PD after the 15-year-old driver lost control of the SUV and it left the road, hitting a building. The 13-year-old passenger was pinned in the vehicle for 30 minutes before the Sayre Fire Department freed her.

At approximately 12:10 p.m. on 11/29/2022, a Haverhill PD detective observed a motorcyclist pull into the Seven Eleven gas station at 503 River St. without a helmet. The motorcycle was unregistered and uninsured. The motorcyclist then fled the scene on foot and the detective pursued him on foot.
Kimball said other Haverhill Police units were called to help apprehend the man, who ran behind a building at 337 River St. Police followed the man and found him deceased from an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound, Kimball said. He was not publicly identified.

Harris County Precinct One deputy constables were in a vehicle pursuit with the driver of a grey Honda Civic driving southbound in the northbound lanes of the Hardy Toll Road. The deputies drove parallel with the wrong way vehicle in the correct lane with emergency equipment activated. The Civic continued to drive the wrong way eastbound in the westbound lanes of the North Loop. The driver of the Civic then struck a Chevrolet Tahoe head-on. The driver of the Civic was pronounced dead at the scene.

A Springfield PD officer was stopped at a red light on 42nd Street and Main Street when they saw a dark-colored Range Rover pass him eastbound on Main Street. Police tried to chase it but temporarily lost track of it. They said the car was going 80-90 miles per hour. Police began searching for the car when they said they got a 911 call about a car crash in the 3800 block of Highway 126. Officials said they arrived “within seconds,” to find the driver of the Ranger Rover dead. Of note, officers can only be at a crash site within seconds if they are actively pursuing the vehicle prior to the crash.

Brandon Gulley was chased for unknown reasons by Maple Bluff PD until he crashed into a tree. He then took off on foot, was found and later pronounced dead at a local hospital. Police did not reveal why they chased him. Four other people were injured in the wreck.

On 11/15/2022 at 10:45 p.m. Monday, officer Brandon Paul Tsai was near the intersection of SW 3rd Street and Pioneer Parkway when he saw a vehicle with a fake paper license plate. Tsai escalated a chase and he himself lost control of his squad car, hitting a light pole.
The 32-year-old was taken to Methodist Dallas Medical Center, where he died from his injuries.

Delaware State Police say a trooper observed a car driving recklessly on Vines Creek Road west of Powell Farm Road and attempted a traffic stop. Police say the trooper chased the car while it ignored emergency lights and sirens, continuing to drive recklessly at high speeds. When the car reached the intersection of Roxana Road and Pyle Center Road, he collided with a tractor trailer, who had a green light. The vehicle crashed into the rear of the tractor trailer, lodging itself underneath. The trailer dragged the car a short distance before stopping. Phillip Bratton died on the scene.

Sacramento PD located a man they wanted for a previous crime and started chasing him. He fled and eventually crashed at Cosumnes River Boulevard east of Franklin Boulevard, roughly a mile away from where the chase started. Viera said that driver was transported to a hospital where he later died.

Two died at the scene and another was transported to Christ Hospital in Oak Lawn in critical condition. The third victim has also died.

The New Jersey Attorney General's Office investigated a chase that stretched from Marlboro to Old Bridge on Nov. 9, 2022. One motorist died in a crash at the end of the chase. Police chased an allegedly stolen car until it crashed, resulted in the death of uninvolved driver Afturo Tlapa Luna.

A Marlboro police officer, identified Friday as Sgt. Greg Arrone, escalated a chase of the car that ended after the car hit several other vehicles on Route 9 south in Old Bridge in the area of Spring Valley Road shortly after 2 a.m.
The occupant of one of the cars, 33-year-old Freehold resident Arturo Tlapa-Luna, was killed in the crash. His wife, father and two daughters were also in the car and suffered severe injuries but survived.

The driver had gotten out to call for help and 2 passengers were seated in the vehicle when deputy Michael John Miscione who had just gotten off work and was driving home in his truck fell asleep while driving and hit the disabled vehicle at 88 mph, killing both Marines. CHP investigators have recommended that vehicular manslaughter charges are filed against deputy Michael John Miscione, stating that criminal conduct can be proven. Charges are being conserved at this time.

Kelvontae Zikel Banks was killed early Friday morning after an officer crashed into his car on Georgia Highway 85 near Riverdale. Family report that the Clayton County police car came out of nowhere. “No lights on, no nothing” said father of deceased. A baby was injured. His father stated: "He was coming to pick his child’s mom up at 1 o’clock at this KFC and he was looking at him come in. He saw my son turn in and this police officer came out of nowhere, with no lights on or nothing and he killed my son," Butler said. His 2-year-old was in the backseat when he died and was admitted to Children's Hospital.

Ashley Irvin was driving down Thomas Lane in Augusta when a high-sped police chase slammed into her the car, killing her. She had been a mother of two. Her family complained that nobody from police contacted them nor explained what happened for a prolonged period and demand transparency and accountability.

Violating a Hands Free law, the person being chased possibly holding a cell phone in one’s hand while driving was given as the reason why this deadly high-speed chase was escalated. Irvin’s parents said that they were never notified of her death, had to find out on their own and police never provided them with information what happened.

Cedar Rapids officers tried to stop a black Chevy Tahoe for traffic violations on 33rd Avenue Southwest. They said the driver, Jamie Hill, didn’t stop. Cedar Rapids PD escalated a chase onto I-380 southbound when Hill took the Highway 30 West exit ramp, lost control and rolled the vehicle several times. He died at the scene.
