Ahlvers had been driving a truck stolen from Skyland Grain in Pratt Co. which had been in use to make deliveries. Police escalated a chase. Ahlvers intentionally drove toward the vehicle of Terrill Underwood who attempted to avoid the collision by driving off the highway but he was hit and killed. Ahlvers was also pronounced dead at the scene.
