A Rialto police officer Attempted to traffic stop a black Infiniti for speeding. The driver appeared to stop, but when police approached, he sped up and drove away. Police alleged that at some point, the driver attempted to ram the police cars chasing him. The dangerous chase continued until the intersection of Rialto and cactus where he ran a red light and crashed into four other vehicles. He was injured and died. His name was David Smith. Police state that he was on parole due to a 2019 felony conviction for evading a peace officer. He is not accused of any significant crimes and seems to have fled from police base on past negative encounters.
