On 02/27/2021 at approximately 11:00 p.m., a Kentucky State Police trooper conducted a traffic stop in the Malone community of Morgan County, Kentucky. During the stop, the trooper requested assistance from the Morgan County Sheriff’s Office and the West Liberty Police Department.
According to Kentucky State Police, Jerry Lynn Roseberry, 48, exited the vehicle holding a firearm and did not comply with commands to drop the weapon. A West Liberty police officer fired his service weapon, striking Roseberry. He was pronounced dead by the Morgan County Coroner.
The Kentucky State Police Critical Incident Response Team investigated the shooting, which is standard protocol for officer-involved shootings in Kentucky.
