OPEN RECORDS SUMMARY :

On 02/26/2021 at approximately 9:30 p.m., San Antonio Police officers responded to reports of a shooting near Gabriel Street and Hudson Street. Thomas William Mack, 39, had arrived at the home of his child’s mother and shot a man who came outside the residence. The injured man survived and was transported for treatment.
A responding officer encountered Mack outside the residence. According to police statements, Mack held a handgun. The officer took cover and waited for backup. Additional officers arrived and established a perimeter while giving commands for Mack to drop the weapon.
After approximately 15 to 20 minutes, officers deployed a Taser in an attempt to subdue him. Police reported that Mack fired two rounds toward officers. Five officers then fired their weapons, striking him. Mack died from gunshot wounds at the location.
The San Antonio Police Department and the Bexar County District Attorney’s Office conducted reviews of the shooting under standard protocol. Authorities did not publicly release the names of the officers who fired.
