On 02/26/2021, Duluth Police officers responded to a residence near W. 24th Avenue and W. 4th Street after receiving a report of a physical domestic incident. Officers were informed that David “Pogo” Joseph Wayne Conwell, 37, was inside the residence and had active felony warrants. A woman exited the home safely after officers arrived.
Officers established a perimeter and began a standoff that lasted several hours. During the confrontation, Conwell fired a weapon from inside the residence. He shot and killed Duluth Police K-9 Luna. Officers exchanged gunfire with him during two separate encounters. Officers ultimately fired multiple rounds, striking Conwell. He died from gunshot wounds inside the residence.
The Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension investigated the shooting. In August 2021, the St. Louis County Attorney announced that the officers’ use of force was legally justified under Minnesota law. The names of the officers who fired were not publicly released in initial reporting.

On 02/26/2021, Kalispell Police responded to reports that a red SUV had rammed multiple vehicles along U.S. 93. Officers located the vehicle unoccupied at a gas station at 2910 U.S. 93 South.
Isaiah Strong, 41, emerged from inside the store. Inside the gas station, Strong struck Officer Brady Gray with a wooden object. He also assaulted another person inside the store. Strong then struck Officer Gray again, hitting her in the upper body and head. Officer Gray fired her weapon, striking Strong. During the gunfire, one uninvolved person inside the store was also struck by a police bullet and injured.
Strong died from gunshot wounds. The injured bystander survived. The Montana Department of Justice Division of Criminal Investigation led the investigation into the shooting. In September 2021, Flathead County Attorney Travis Ahner announced that Officer Gray’s use of deadly force was legally justified under Montana law.

On 02/26/2021 at approximately 9:30 p.m., San Antonio Police officers responded to reports of a shooting near Gabriel Street and Hudson Street. Thomas William Mack, 39, had arrived at the home of his child’s mother and shot a man who came outside the residence. The injured man survived and was transported for treatment.
A responding officer encountered Mack outside the residence. According to police statements, Mack held a handgun. The officer took cover and waited for backup. Additional officers arrived and established a perimeter while giving commands for Mack to drop the weapon.
After approximately 15 to 20 minutes, officers deployed a Taser in an attempt to subdue him. Police reported that Mack fired two rounds toward officers. Five officers then fired their weapons, striking him. Mack died from gunshot wounds at the location.
The San Antonio Police Department and the Bexar County District Attorney’s Office conducted reviews of the shooting under standard protocol. Authorities did not publicly release the names of the officers who fired.

On February 25, 2021, at approximately 11 p.m., a deputy with the Augusta County Sheriff's Office was traveling westbound on VA-42 when he noticed a vehicle approaching quickly from behind. The vehicle tailgated the deputy, passed him on a double-yellow line, and accelerated to 85 mph. The deputy attempted to stop the vehicle but began a pursuit when the driver allegedly improperly passed another motorist and drove on the wrong side of the road, reaching speeds of 80-100 mph. The driver lost control of the vehicle, a 1993 Lincoln Town Car driven by Ronald Alvin Colvin, which ran off the road, struck a mailbox, spun across the road, hit a ditch, became airborne, and hit a utility pole. Colvin was killed in the crash.

On 02/25/2021, around 9: 22 p.m., officers from the Baltimore Police Department's Inner Harbor unit were flagged down in the area of Market and Pratt streets following a non-fatal shooting. One officer provided aid to the victim, while others pursued a man who fled into the Harbor Park Garage. On the ramp into the garage, the man, identified as Benjamin D. Tyson, allegedly turned around, produced a handgun, and attempted to fire it. Multiple officers then shot and killed Tyson.

On 02/24/2021, just after midnight, Antioch police officers encountered Arturo Gomez Calel in a roadway during what was described as a mental health crisis. On February 21, 2021, 23-year-old Keean Smalls of Augusta, Georgia, died after a police pursuit ended in a crash. Around 4:00 a.m., Richmond County Sheriff's deputies attempted to stop Smalls’ vehicle on Gordon Highway. Smalls did not stop, and deputies initiated a pursuit. The chase ended when Smalls drove through a Sprint gas station parking lot near Barton Chapel Road and crashed into the rear of a parked tractor-trailer. Smalls was pronounced dead at the scene at 5:55 a.m. He had to be extricated from the vehicle. The Georgia State Patrol is investigating the crash.
