On 02/27/2021 at approximately 10:50 p.m., deputies with the Clay County Sheriff's Office responded to reports of shots fired at an apartment complex located at 2121 Burwick Avenue in Orange Park. According to the sheriff’s office, multiple callers reported gunfire in the area.
Deputies arrived within minutes and encountered 32-year-old Rudy M. Duvivier outside the apartment complex. Authorities reported that Duvivier fired a weapon at responding deputies. Deputies returned fire, striking him.
Duvivier was pronounced dead following the shooting. No deputies were reported killed. The Florida Department of Law Enforcement was notified and conducted the investigation, which is standard procedure for officer-involved shootings in Florida.
