On 01/30/2021, Bullitt County sheriff’s deputies were called to check on a vehicle parked in the middle of a roadway along Cedar Creek Road. Deputies attempted to get the driver, identified as Eric Kessler, to exit the vehicle. According to authorities, the vehicle then accelerated away. During the encounter, a deputy fired his weapon, striking Kessler. He was later pronounced dead.
