On 02/04/2021, Baltimore County police responded to a shooting at a residence on the 3900 block of Bayville Rd where a woman had been shot. The armed individual remained inside and refused to surrender, leading officers to establish a perimeter and deploy tactical resources during an extended standoff. Police maintained containment while attempting communication before entry was made. The individual was located deceased from a self inflicted gunshot wound. On February 4, 2021, Omar Felix Cueva, 39, was stopped by New Mexico State Police Officer Darian Jarrott on Interstate 10 near Avenida de Mesilla in Las Cruces, New Mexico, as part of an investigation with Homeland Security Investigations. On 02/04/2021, shortly after 1 p.m., Nevada County sheriff’s deputies responded to multiple calls reporting a woman walking in the roadway on Alta Sierra Drive with two small children. Callers said the woman appeared distressed and possibly impaired. Deputies made contact with Ariella Sage Eloise Crawford within minutes of arriving. During the encounter, deputies Caleb Toderean and Matthew Harrison opened fire and killed Crawford at the scene. Reporting later indicated that Crawford feared deputies were there to take her children and that deputies said she was holding a knife. The district attorney later cleared the deputies, and a civil appeal filed on behalf of the children was denied.

On February 4, 2021, around 7:41 p.m., deputies from the Clark County Sheriff's Office conducted a traffic stop near the intersection of Northeast 68th and Northeast 2nd Avenue in Hazel Dell, Washington. During the traffic stop, one of the deputies shot Jenoah Donald (also known as Donald D. Jonah). Donald was transported to the hospital, where he remained in critical condition. In February 2021, 43-year-old Lakisel Thomas was struck and killed while crossing the street to pick up lunch for her son when a fleeing vehicle ran a red light and hit her. On 02/01/2021, 23-year-old Sandra Birchmore was found dead in her apartment on Washington Street in Canton. Investigators initially ruled her death a suicide, but federal prosecutors later determined she was strangled by former Stoughton Police Department officer Matthew Farwell, who then staged the scene to look like a suicide. Birchmore had been sexually exploited by Farwell since she was a teenager and was pregnant with his child at the time of her death. Farwell has been federally indicted for her murder and obstruction of justice and remains in custody awaiting trial.

Carson refused to comply, and a long standoff ensued. On 01/31/2021, Bledsoe County sheriff’s deputies went to a residence on Brockdell Road in Pikeville to serve multiple warrants on Chad William Songer, including a warrant related to a probation violation. According to authorities, during the attempt to take Songer into custody, a police dog was deployed. Police stated that Songer moved toward deputies while holding an object described as a weighted exercise ball and threw it during the encounter. Songer was mauled and fatally injured during the incident. Family members stated that the police dog caused his death. The officers were cleared.

On January 31, 2021, Carmel Police Department officers responded to a disturbance at 441 W Main Street in Carmel, Indiana. A person, later identified as Keith Scales, 60, had reportedly threatened suicide and was firing shots from inside a residence shortly before noon. In Kansas City, Missouri, an officer attempted a traffic stop near Gardner Avenue and North Chouteau Trafficway. The driver, Brandy Granados, accelerated away and police initiated a pursuit. On January 31, 2021, at approximately 5:20 p.m., the McCurtain County Sheriff's Office responded to a domestic assault report involving Franklin Gray, a 39-year-old male. Gray was allegedly restraining his mother on a couch, causing her breathing difficulties. When deputies arrived at the residence in the 1700 block of Lavender Road in Broken Bow, Oklahoma, they encountered Gray outside the home and attempted to arrest him. During the altercation, Gray reportedly tried to take a deputy's firearm, resulting in the weapon discharging. Deputies deployed a taser in an effort to subdue Gray but were unsuccessful. The confrontation escalated, and at least one deputy opened fire, fatally shooting Gray.
The Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation (OSBI) is investigating the incident. The findings will be reviewed by the District Attorney's Office to determine the appropriateness of the deputies' actions.

On 01/30/2021, Bullitt County sheriff’s deputies were called to check on a vehicle parked in the middle of a roadway along Cedar Creek Road. Deputies attempted to get the driver, identified as Eric Kessler, to exit the vehicle. According to authorities, the vehicle then accelerated away. During the encounter, a deputy fired his weapon, striking Kessler. He was later pronounced dead. The shooting was placed under investigation, and no criminal charges against the deputy were announced at the time of reporting.

On January 30, 2021, at approximately 12:35 a.m., East Cleveland police officers initiated a vehicle pursuit as part of a drug investigation. The chase concluded near East 110th Street and St. Clair Avenue in Cleveland when the fleeing vehicle collided with a utility pole and caught fire. The passenger, Shawn Antoine Crenshaw Jr., 27, was unable to be rescued and died from injuries sustained in the crash.

On 01/29/2021, Orange County deputies responded to a 9-1-1 call reporting gunfire at a residence in the 9000 block of Oak Vista Drive near Bridge City. Deputies arrived and located one man and one woman dead from gunshot wounds and a third woman injured in the leg. Deputies were told a man had barricaded himself in a nearby home. Deputies deployed the SWAT team, who forced entry into the residence and found the man dead from a self inflicted gunshot wound after the standoff. The incident unfolded as officers secured the scene and investigated the fatal shootings that preceded the barricade situation.
