On 04/03/2021, Phoenix police shot and killed 26 year old Jose Arenas during an evening encounter in west Phoenix. Police responded to an Arco gas station near 75th Avenue and Indian School Road around 8 p.m. after receiving reports of a disturbance. According to police, officers chased Arenas from the gas station into a nearby restaurant. Officers confronted Arenas inside the business and issued commands.
