On 10/08/2021, Los Angeles Police Department officers responded to reports of gunfire and violent activity in downtown Los Angeles near South Main Street and 6th Street. Police reported that Rudy Anderson fired a weapon in public, attempted to take a vehicle, and entered an apartment where another person was inside. Officers located Anderson inside the apartment and an armed confrontation followed. LAPD officers opened fire and fatally shot Anderson. The person inside the apartment was taken to safety. The Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office later reviewed the case and ruled the shooting justified.
