On 10/10/2021, deputies from the Houston County Sheriff’s Office responded to a reported burglary at a business along U.S. Highway 231 in Sylacauga, Alabama. Deputies reported seeing Perry Lamar Stringfellow Jr. loading an air conditioning unit into a vehicle. Deputies ordered him to stop. Police stated that Stringfellow instead drove the vehicle toward deputies. Deputies opened fire, striking Stringfellow. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
