Rhyker Earl Reportedly suffered a seizure and 911 was called for an ambulance. Police arrived instead. He reportedly was postictal, confused and stumbled and fell at an officer who arrived. The officer responded by handcuffing him pinned down in the prone position. Several officers reportedly knelt on top of him while EMTs gave him sedatives. His aunt reports that he was pleading for his life while being face-down in a pillow for a long period, repeatedly begging officers, telling them that he could not breathe. The aunt estimates that this lasted for 15 minutes until he went limp and was no longer breathing.

The police story is very vague so far, not distinguishing whether this was an armed hostile residential burglary type entry or whether it perhaps was what police refer to as “disturbance call” and a familiar person is not wanted but not violent or causing harm and police are requested to escort them out. There have been no press conferences or updates in the first days after the killing. Police state that he "had a gun.” It is not known whether he produced it or threatened anyone or whether it was in his pocket. ALEA is investigating the killing.
