On 01/01/2026, Chandler Police officers responded after Gerald Lee Philpot Jr., 41, made a 911 call stating he intended to harm his young daughter, who was inside a vehicle with him. Officers located the vehicle near McQueen Road and Chandler Boulevard and attempted to make contact. During the encounter, officers discharged their firearms and shot Philpot. He was pronounced dead after the shooting. The child was not injured and was later reunited with her mother. Police reported that a knife was recovered from the vehicle. On 01/01/2026, an off-duty Bossier Parish Sheriff’s deputy was involved in a domestic dispute at a residence in the 100 block of Robbin Lane in Princeton, Louisiana. During the confrontation, Jonathan Len Isgitt, 55, fired a gun and struck the deputy in the ankle. The deputy discharged his weapon and shot Isgitt. He was pronounced dead after the shooting. On 10/09/2024, Taylorsville police officer Jimmy Jeremy Haas followed a pickup truck connected to a vehicle that had reportedly fled from Salt Lake City police earlier in the day. Haas followed the truck into a parking lot and blocked it in with an unmarked police SUV. Police said the driver reversed and rammed Haas’s vehicle. Another officer then used a patrol vehicle to pin the truck against a building. Prosecutors said Haas shined a flashlight through the rear window and fired one shot into the truck, striking the driver. The driver fled on foot and was later found unresponsive nearby. He died from the gunshot wound. Prosecutors stated no weapons were found on the man or inside the vehicle. On 05/14/2026, Salt Lake County prosecutors charged Haas with second degree felony manslaughter, alleging the shooting violated department policy and accepted law enforcement standards.
