On 11/16/2022, deputies attempted to pull over Aaron Osgood for reckless driving in Modesto late at night. Osgood fled on foot into a business in the 100 block of Empire Avenue, and law enforcement officers established a perimeter around the building. A drone confirmed Osgood was on the roof of the structure, and deputies issued repeated commands for him to surrender. At about 11:15 p.m., Osgood crawled to the edge of the roof and fired multiple shots in the direction of deputies, who took cover and did not return fire. Osgood then fatally shot himself with a firearm while law enforcement was actively engaged in the incident. A vehicle and firearm found at the scene were later determined to be stolen, and records showed Osgood had several felony arrest warrants at the time of the encounter.

Deputies located a woman inside a recreational vehicle with a fatal gunshot wound. Alfonso Hernandez Jr. left the area before deputies arrived. El Dorado County deputies later located him driving on Ice House Road near White Hall. As deputies and California Highway Patrol officers attempted to stop and contact him, Hernandez Jr. shot himself inside his vehicle. Larry Walker became tangled in the vehicle’s seatbelt when a carjacker stole his car and drove off, dragging Walker for several miles during a police chase with the vehicle owner dragging on the ground allegedly under the vehicle. JaneshaHarris, 35, and Jamarea Keyes, 38, were third parties driving down the street who were killed by a police chase crash when their BMW was struck by a 2006 Cadillac STS that was “speeding” due to being hunted by police.
LAPD claim they called off the chase and turned off their lights and sirens. The crash occurred less than five seconds after the sirens and lights were turned off, as is commonly the case.
Jasmine Mines, an attorney representing the Keyes and Harris families, said the newly released video shows inconsistencies with LAPD’s initial account of events.
“Even though the sirens were off, the officers were clearly still in pursuit. Initially, the LAPD officers stated they retreated and there were 15 seconds from the time they retreated to the time of the collision that ended in fatality. LAPD stated they were not engaged in any chase,” Mines said.
The dashcam video shows the officers chasing the Cadillac through at least four intersections with their lights and sirens on.

JaneshaHarris, 35, and Jamarea Keyes, 38, were third parties driving down the street who were killed by a police chase crash when their BMW was struck by a 2006 Cadillac STS that was “speeding” due to being hunted by police.
Police claim they called off the chase and turned off their lights and sirens. The crash occurred less than five seconds after the sirens and lights were turned off, as is commonly the case.
Jasmine Mines, an attorney representing the Keyes and Harris families, said the newly released video shows inconsistencies with LAPD’s initial account of events.
“Even though the sirens were off, the officers were clearly still in pursuit. Initially, the LAPD officers stated they retreated and there were 15 seconds from the time they retreated to the time of the collision that ended in fatality. LAPD stated they were not engaged in any chase,” Mines said.
The dashcam video shows the officers chasing the Cadillac through at least four intersections with their lights and sirens on.
