Shannon Graham, 35, was wanted for allegedly fatally shooting his girlfriend, Jessica Hoyle, 31, inside her Mickle Avenue home in the Bronx on April 1, 2025. Graham reportedly had ongoing arguments with Hoyle before shooting her. NYPD tracked Graham’s phone to a multi-family residence on Pratt Avenue. Officers from the Emergency Services Unit entered the building, finding Graham on a second-floor landing with a self-inflicted gunshot wound to the head. He was transported to Jacobi Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead.

In the early hours of April 2, 2025, NYPD officers from the 50th Precinct began pursuing a vehicle believed to be stolen. Police chased him southbound on the Henry Hudson Parkway into Manhattan. Near the Dyckman Street exit, the driver exited the parkway and crashed into a building during the pursuit, causing the vehicle to catch fire. The officers approached the burning vehicle but allegedly left the scene without attempting a rescue or notifying emergency services. The driver was later found deceased inside the charred vehicle. Both officers were suspended. The Force Investigation Division and the Attorney General's Office are investigating.

A New York State Police trooper engaged in a struggle with the man, during which the trooper was struck with a metal object and sustained a minor head injury. The altercation continued, and an Oswego County Sheriff's deputy opened fire and shot the man. He was transported to a Syracuse-area hospital, where he was pronounced dead around 2:30 p.m. His father, Alton Dignean, stated that he had had a severe head injury with multiple hematomas in the past, which caused his mental health issues.

Police attempted to stop a vehicle on Portland Avenue near Rochester General Hospital around 8 p.m. for having switched license plates. The driver, a 62-year-old man, did not stop. Police escalated a chase. At the intersection of Portland Avenue and Chapin Street, the vehicle hit the median, entered the opposite lane, and collided head-on with another car. The driver was transported to a hospital, where he died from his injuries. The occupants of the other car, aged 60 and 61, sustained serious injuries but are expected to survive. The New York State Attorney General’s Office is investigating the incident.

On March 6, 2025, at approximately 5:20 a.m., NYPD officers responded to a 911 call reporting a man with a gun in the parking lot of a Home Depot on Veterans Road West in Staten Island, New York. Upon arrival, officers observed a 55-year-old man sitting in a black Jeep Wrangler, firing shots into the air. The officers took tactical positions and repeatedly instructed the man to show his hands and drop the firearm. The man did not comply and instead pointed the firearm at the officers, prompting five officers to discharge their weapons, striking him multiple times. The man was transported to Staten Island University North Hospital, where he was pronounced dead. A Smith & Wesson .38-caliber revolver, along with numerous shell casings and live ammunition, was recovered at the scene. The incident is under investigation by the NYPD's Force Investigation Division.

Robert L. Brooks, a 43-year-old Black male, was fatally beaten by multiple correctional officers at Marcy Correctional Facility in Marcy, New York, on 12/09/2024. While handcuffed with his hands behind his back, Brooks was escorted into a medical examination room where officers punched, kicked, and dragged him by his neck. Body-worn camera footage captured the violent assault in detail.
Brooks sustained severe injuries, including facial bruising, a broken nose, neck hemorrhaging, and other blunt force trauma. The Onondaga County Medical Examiner’s Office ruled his death as asphyxiation due to neck compression. In response, 13 correctional officers and a nurse were suspended without pay, and one officer resigned. On 08/08/2024, at approximately 7:42 p.m., officers from the Auburn Police Department encountered 51-year-old Scott R. Demonte during an investigation into child sexual exploitation at the Melone Village housing complex in Auburn, New York. During the encounter, Mr. Demonte produced a handgun, pointing it briefly at the officers before turning it on himself. He discharged a single round, inflicting a fatal self-inflicted gunshot wound.

Port Jervis PD attempted to traffic stop a motorcycle driven by Wade C. Conklin, Jr. that was allegedly speeding. The motorcycle did not stop.
