Upon arrival, they encountered two men preparing to leave a residence. After handcuffing and questioning them, officers located the individual who had placed the 911 call. This person informed the officers that Lawrence LeJames Rodgers, a 21-year-old Black male, was inside the home armed with a gun and accompanied by another man. Rodgers emerged from the residence with both his hands and a weapon visible. In response, officers discharged their firearms, causing Rodgers to retreat back into the house. On 12/14/2021, at approximately 6:48 a.m., Dayton Police Department officers responded to reports of a shooting near Hoover Avenue and Evergreen Avenue, where a 49-year-old man was allegedly shot in the leg by William Gardner, who had fired multiple shots at the man while he was walking his dog. Gardner then retreated to his home.

SWAT officers established a perimeter and pressured Gardner for hours. Approximately three hours later, Gardner came out of his home with a handgun. Police alleged that he walked toward SWAT officers and that they feared for their lives. Multiple SWAT officers fired assault rifles, killing Gardner.

The Montgomery County Sheriff's Office is conducting an investigation into the shooting, while the Dayton Police Department's Professional Standards Bureau is performing an internal review.

On 12/08/2021, members of the U.S. Marshals Service's Southern Ohio Fugitive Apprehension Strike Team (SOFAST) served an arrest warrant for a person wanted for aggravated robbery at a residence in the 2700 block of Fourseasons Drive in Columbus, Ohio.

While the individual named in the warrant was being taken into custody, 18-year-old Donta R. Stewart, who was not involved in the warrant, allegedly began firing at officers from a nearby closet, striking a deputy U.S. Marshal in the upper torso. Officers opened fire, critically injuring Stewart. He was transported to Mount Carmel Hospital, where he was pronounced dead. The injured deputy was taken to Grant Medical Center in stable condition and was expected to survive.

The Franklin County Sheriff's Office Detective Bureau, with assistance from the Ohio Bureau of Criminal Investigation, conducted an investigation into the incident. In November 2022, a Franklin County grand jury cleared the officers involved.

On 12/03/2021, a Ford Fusion reportedly carjacked in Cleveland was spotted traveling eastbound on Solon Road near Erico Drive. The driver accelerated, and police escalated a high-speed pursuit, reaching approximately 80 mph in a 35 mph zone. The chase extended into Bentleyville and Chagrin Falls before the officer allegedly "lost sight of the vehicle." Another officer later deployed stop sticks near Solon Road and Erico Drive.

While attempting to avoid the stop sticks at high speed, the vehicle lost control and collided with two bystander vehicles. Sally Schultz, an 85-year-old passenger in one of the bystander vehicles, sustained critical injuries and later died. The drivers of the other bystander vehicles, a 37-year-old man from North Bloomfield and an 89-year-old man from Chagrin Falls, were also injured.

Two occupants of the pursued vehicle, a 19-year-old man from Berea and a 20-year-old man from Cleveland, were hospitalized and subsequently arrested. The incident has been placed under internal investigation by the Solon Police Department.

Upon arrival, deputies encountered Wright allegedly restraining a 60-year-old woman at gunpoint. Wright released the woman and returned inside the home.

Deputies held the home for the next 4 to 5 hours. They stated that Wright appeared intermittently in the windows and the garage armed with a long gun and a handgun. Around 9 a.m., six hours into the standoff, Wright allegedly began setting fires inside the home. He exited the smoke-filled residence into the backyard with a long gun. Deputies fired beanbags and alleged that Wright raised his rifle. Deputies opened fire, killing him.
